About the Foundation

The George Washington Legacy Foundation is a nonprofit organization established to support educational and civic activities that aim to enlighten public awareness about George Washington and his legacy, in part by providing grants to qualifying tax-exempt non-profit organizations and governmental entities for the support of such activities.

Originally incorporated in 2018 by Alexandria civic booster Joseph Shumard, today the GWLF is an active foundation deeply engaged in promoting its founder’s vision: namely, to provide needed and significant support to worthy George Washington-related projects.

The George Washington Legacy Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt foundation, and all contributions to the GWLF are tax-deductible. Our EIN is 88-4217344.
